C. da Silva History

In 1933, newly arrived from Brazil, Clemente da Silva fulfilled a lifetime dream by creating a winemaking business of excellence that would lead him to overall success…
Looking for an area of investment with capital coming from business ventures in the former Portuguese colony, he considered buying a Port Wine company owned by his wife’s family. This company was founded, in 1863, under the name CorrĂȘa Ribeiro e Filhos and carried the seal bearer of long time supplier to the Royal House. But as a result of reasons lost in time, the young businessman opted for building a company from scratch and according to his expectations, taking advantage of his close collaboration with the above company to build its initial stocks and take the first steps in the business.
